Households in Bangkok which do not separate their recyclable garbage will pay a higher collection fee of Bt60 per month to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. On Thursday, the Bangkok City Council endorsed, by a majority vote, an ordinance to increase the garbage collection fee for households which do not separate their garbage.
The new fee will become effective 180 days after the issuance of the bylaw. Deputy Bangkok Governor said the increase in the fee is intended to encourage households to separate the garbage they generate everyday into that which is for recycling and that which is for destruction. It is also intended to make the public aware of cleanliness and environmental management, he added.
