Tanintharyi Region Coastal Resources Management Committee held a meeting (1/2024) was held at the Region Government office in Dawei on 29th October.

At the meeting, Chairman of Tanintharyi Region Coastal Resources Management Committee Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko gave an opening speech saying that the Coastal Natural Resource Management Committee of the Region has been restructured comprising 25 members, to strengthen the management and utilization of coastal resources.

Since a large portion of the population in the Region relies on coastal resources for livelihoods, including the export of marine products, pearl farming, and coastal tourism, these sectors are vital for the region’s economy. Effective management of these resources is essential for sustainable development.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the sustainable development of coastal resources is crucial for both national and regional economic growth. He also called upon committee members and experts attending via video conferencing to contribute their suggestions and engage in discussions.

Next, the Region Minister for Natural Resources U Khin Maung Myint clarified regarding the Coastal Resources Management and the Committee secretary and experts discussed the status of completing implementation for the decisions of the meeting and action plans and the Region Chief Minister coordinated requirements.
