






Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council U Than Tun Oo, Council members and departmental officials attended an event aimed at the Festival for Raising Reading Habit held at No. (12) Basic Education High School in Uttarathiri Township on Tuesday.
At the ceremony, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council U Than Tun Oo, Council member U Myint Soe, Nay Pyi Taw level officials opened the decorated entrance of the Festival for Raising Reading Habit by cutting the ceremonial ribbon and the Council Chairman presented cash of honor to the students of Pom Pom dance group and the drum and bugle corps.
Next, they observed the students reading the books in the school library of Northern Lights.
After that, the students from No. (12) Basic Education High School presented music performance and a video clip of “Prospect for the interest of the country must ensure” was shown.
Then, Chairman of Collaborated Committee for Development of Nay Pyi Taw Libraries and Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council U Than Tun Oo delivered a speech saying that students are the future leaders responsible for the nation and must be well-rounded and resilient. He emphasized the importance of nurturing young students and youth for the country's development. Furthermore, he encouraged youth and the public to engage in reading, and emphasized the importance of creating environments conducive to reading and learning. He highlighted that events like this reading promotion festival are being organized at basic education schools and universities to foster a habit of reading.
After that, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman presented cash of honor to the students who took part in musical performance, certificate of honor to the well-wishers and Writer Thet Thet Nwe (Yangon University) and donated books and periodicals to the libraries in Uttarathiri Township.
Then, Sarpay Beikman manual script prize winner Writer Thet Thet Nwe (Yangon University) gave a educating talk on the benefits of reading.
Then, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and officials observed the educational book exhibition, various knowledge-sharing, physical and intellectual competitions and provided awards of honor.
Later, they oversaw the collective blood donation of the personnel of Nay Pyi Taw, District and Township General Administration Department at 1,000-bed No. 2 Military Hospital in Zayyarthiri Township by hailing the Anniversary of the General Administration Department and provided supplemental foodstuff to the blood donors and 1 million Kyats for the 1,000-bed No. 2 Military Hospital and the Commandant of the hospital accepted and returned a certificate of honor.
Following this, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and party encouraged the teaching and learning group which is a part of the continuous educational program, met with volunteer instructors and supervisors who are dedicated to teaching literacy and encouraging students, cordially greeted them and provided stationaries, supplemental foodstuff and cash assistance at Sub Basic Education High School (Shwe Nant Thar) in Uttarathiri Township. The Council Chairman and party also encouraged the students who were reading at the school library, donated books and periodicals and coordinated requirements.
