Regional Meeting: Myanmar hosts the 46th meeting of AMAF

Myanmar is hosting the 46th meeting of ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry and related meetings via online system.

On the 25th of October, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung chaired the 24th ASEAN+3 Ministers Meeting on Agriculture and Forestry in Nay Pyi Taw.

The meeting was co-chaired by the high-ranking officials from People’s Republic of China, Japan and Republic of Korea with the attendance of the ministers, deputy ministers, ASEAN Deputy Secretary General, Senior General, representatives from ASEAN member countries and Timor Leste.

The meeting reviewed the tasks being implemented during 2023-2024 according to the Strategic Plan for ASEAN Cooperation in Food, Agriculture, and Forestry 2016-2025.  The meeting also laid down the guidelines for the Post-2025 Vision and Sectoral Plan for Food, Agriculture, and Forestry and adopted the Joint Press Statement of the meeting.

In the afternoon, the 8th ASEAN-India Ministers Meeting on Agriculture and Forestry continued, and made discussion on developing processes of ASEAN-India Agriculture and Forestry cooperation mid-term plan 2021-2025 and implementation of scholarship programme for ASEAN-India agriculture and related science subjects as well as specific agricultural enhancement project with artificial intelligence.

The meeting successfully concluded with the adoption of the joint press statement.
