Religion and Culture: Myanmar delegation participates in World Buddhist Forum

A Buddhist delegation led by the Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, Presiding Nayaka Sayadaw of Thanlyin Min Kyaung Pahtamapyan Monastery returned to Myanmar on Saturday, accompanied by Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Aye Tun.

The delegation participated in the sixth World Buddhist Forum held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province of China from October 15th to 17th. During their stay, they engaged in discussions with abbots, including the president of the Buddhist Association of China, at the Howard Johnson Hotel.

The meeting focused on arrangements for fostering Buddhist dialogues between the two countries. The Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee highlighted the significance of this gathering for the advancement of Buddhism and addressed the conveyance of Buddha’s sacred tooth relic to Myanmar. Following the meeting, the Deputy Minister presented offerings to the abbots led by the president of the Buddhist Association of China.

On October 8th, the Deputy Minister and party met with the Vice Presidents of the China Association for International Friendly Contact and the Southern China Association for International Friendly Contact, as well as the Chairman of the Yunnan Association for International Friendly Contact, to discuss potential cooperation in religious and cultural matters.
