October 16th marks World Food Day. This year’s theme is “The Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future: Leave No One Behind.”
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), this theme is a reminder that everyone has the right to access diverse and nutritious food, which is essential for social stability. The 2024 “State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World” report reveals that the daily cost of a healthy diet in Viet Nam is about 4 USD, among the lowest in Southeast Asia.
This suggests that Viet Nam is successfully ensuring its citizens’ right to access food. In the 38 years since its economic reforms, Viet Nam has transformed from a food-importing nation to a leading global food producer and exporter, now playing a vital role in global food security.
