Library Visit: Union Minister visits libraries in Yangon and Bago Regions

Chairman of the Myanmar Libraries Development Cooperation Committee Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn visited HmawbySaya Thein Library on Saturday, and met with community elders and Library Supervisory Committee.

He discussed for measures to attract young people for reading literature for gaining knowledge, along with the development of the libraries. During the visit, 2 million kyat cash assistance were made, with the contribution of books and periodicals.

The library was established in 2013, with the fund of 35.9 million kyat by Myanmar Library Foundation and townselders. They then attended the opening ceremony of Pyin Nya Alin Library in Ingalar Ward of Taikkyi Township.

In his speech, the Union Minister urged all to strive for development of the library, encouraging the public to nurture reading habit. Then, donations of cash and publications were made for the library.

The Union Minister later visited Kaung Thant Library in Oakkan and Sayagyi P. Moe Nin Library in Thonese, contributing cash assistance and publications. At Thayawady District Information and Public Relations Department, the Union Minister met with the staff and urged all to make all out efforts in performing their tasks.
