Regional Meeting: 18th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting in Nay Pyi Taw

Myanmar hosted the 18th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on 10th October. Representatives from Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Viet Nam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines attended the meeting and made discussion under the theme “Sailing Together: Harmony to Peace and Prosperity”.

The participants exchanged views on information exchange and future plans, with adoption of the meeting minutes. After the meeting, Commander in Chief (Navy) Vice Admiral Htein Win held separate meetings with the delegations, and discussed matters on cooperation between the two navies and in the ASEAN, collaboration for humanitarian assistance and disaster prevention measures.

At night, a dinner reception was hosted in honour of the delegations to the 18th ANCM. The Commander in Chief (Navy) extended greetings, and handed over the responsibility to the Malaysia, the host for the 19th ANCM.

During their stay in Myanmar, the delegations visited the prominent places in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon including the Memorial to the Fallen Heroes, Mara Vijaya Buddha Image, Uppatasanti Pagoda, Royal White Elephant Hall, Gems Musuem, National Museim (Nay Pyi Taw), souvenir shop at the M-Gallery Hotel, as well as Shwedagon Pagoda, Bogyoke Market and Junction City.
