Tour in Yangon: MOI Union Minister visits GNLM and SarpayBeikman

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met with the chief editors, editors and concerned officials at the meeting hall of The Global New Light of Myanmar Press on 10th October. 

The Union Minister heard reports on operation of the press. Then, the Union Minister stressed on systematic publication of the press in accordance with the set policies and perspectives of the government, creativity and innovation of the newspaper and media sector development.

The Union Minister also instructed to become the reliable information source of the nation with the unity of every relevant individual and coordinated requirements on current work implementations.

Then, the Union Minister met visited Myo Ma Library in No.4 Ward and Yan Kin Gonye Library in No.5 Ward of Yan Kin Township. There, the Union Minister met with the library supervisory committee members and instructed on enhancing library services for the convenience of the readers, putting newspapers and journals at the library to deliver necessary information to the readers as well as attracting youth readers.

He also stressed on holding discussions and knowledge sharing session where the readers can exchange their knowledge. Then, the Union Minister donated cash assistance, library equipment, books and publications. In the afternoon, the Union Minister inspected SerpayBeikMan Library and book stall on Merchant Road.

At the Department of Printing and Publication, the Union Minister met with the officials and staff and instructed to make efforts on promoting reading habit.
