ASEAN Tourism Committee Meetings: MoHT UM delivered a speech at the opening ceremony

The 18th Meeting of the ASEAN Tourism Competitiveness Committee (ATCC), 18th Meeting of the ASEAN Sustainable and Inclusive Tourism Development Committee (ASITDC), 32nd Meeting of the ASEAN Tourism Professional Monitoring Committee (ATPMC) and 18th Meeting of the ASEAN Tourism Resourcing, Monitoring, and Evaluation Committee (ATRMEC) are hosted In Person at Sedona Hotel in Yangon from 9th to 11th of October and the Union Minister for Hotel and Tourism Dr. Thet Thet Khine delivered a remark at the opening ceremony of the meetings.

The ceremony was attended by Director General of the Directorate of Hotel and Tourism and Senior officials, leaders and representatives of delegations from ASEAN countries, representatives from ASEAN Secretariat, Chairmen and officials concerned of Myanmar Tourism Federation and affiliated associations.

In her opening remark, the Union Minister said that warmly welcoming everyone to Myanmar for attending the ASEAN Tourism Committee Meetings in person, ASEAN member countries are globally recognized for their diverse cultures and unique tourist destination, the collective efforts being made to revive the regional tourism sector.

The minister emphasized the importance of strengthening public-private partnerships among ASEAN member countries to support these efforts. She further highlighted that the meetings would not only focus on the development of tourism in ASEAN countries but also address the growth of human resources, setting standards of expertise, and mutual recognition programs.

The Union Minister expressed confidence that through the collaborative efforts of all ASEAN countries, the positive image of tourism in the region would continue to be enhanced. Next, the Union Minister together with the Leaders and representatives of delegations from ASEAN countries posed for the documentary photo.

The Timor-Leste attended the meetings as an observer together with ASEAN member countries and Myanmar conducted as Vice Chair of 18th Meeting of the ASEAN Sustainable and Inclusive Tourism Development Committee.

In the afternoon, Union Minister attended the opening ceremony of Batch-5 of Baking Coach Training Course of “The Establishment of Bakery & Pastry Training” Project implemented with Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2022) held at the Center for Tourism Development in Yangon and elaborated the projects implementing with the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund.

Next, the Union Minister posed for documentary photo together with the trainees and encouraged the lecturing of training course and practical baking. The training will be conducted for one month. In the evening, the Union Minister attended the welcoming dinner hosted for the representatives of ASEAN member countries to be attended in ASEAN Tourism Committee meetings at Sedona Hotel in Yangon.
