







Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung together with State Ministers and State level Departmental officials attended the work coordination meeting with the departmental personnel in Kengtung Township regarding with the natural disaster occurred in Shan State (East) at the meeting hall of State government Guesthouse on 7th October.
speaking at the meeting, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung said that this trip to the flood-affected people in Shan State (East) is taken to observe the situation and coordinate necessary actions on the ground. He urged the people of Shan State (East) including local residents, to present any concerns regarding regional development issues.
He noted that while Kengtung Township was significantly affected by natural disasters, Tachileik experienced even more damage. Across the country, many roads and bridges in states and regions were severely damaged. He emphasized the importance of uninterrupted transportation for the restoration process, as disruptions in road connectivity would affect governance and people's livelihoods.
He also mentioned that in the reconstruction efforts for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, if there are no urgent priorities for certain projects funded by state and local budgets, funds should be preserved to prioritize the repair of roads, bridges, office buildings, hospitals, and clinics that were inevitably damaged by natural disasters. This, he instructed, should be the main focus of restoration efforts.
Next, the Chairman of Sub State Government (Shan State-East) U Zaw Lwin Oo clarified regarding the Natural Disaster Management in Shan State (East).
Then, the State level departmental officials and Township elders explained the ongoing rehabilitation works for the damages and loses due to the flood resulted by Typhoon Yagi, conducted discussion on general matters and the Chief Minister coordinated requirements for the rehabilitation works and urged the locals to participate in it.
After that, Shan State Government provided capital donation of 100 million Kyats for the renovation works of Thathana Beikman in Kengtung Township and 15 million Kyats of Village Development Program (VDP) Fund for Wan Ewl village through Township elder and intrim Township administrator and gave a speech of conclusion.
Later, the Chief Minister and party paid homage to the Principal Sayadaw of Kengtung Abbot training Centre, offered 5 million Kyasts of cash donation for the basic needs of the center, took the sermon delivered by the principal Sayadaw and shared the merits gained, it’s reported.
