Floods in Lawpita: Surge of Belu Creek inundated Hydropower Plant

Due to the surge of Belu Creek in Kayah State, No.2 Hydropower Plant (Lawpita) has inundated starting September 30th.

Local authorities are making efforts to prevent from further inflow of water into the facility. On Sunday, Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin visited the power plant to assess the work undertakings for flood prevention, providing assistance to the participants.

The Chief Minister also visited the flooded areas between No.1 and No.2 Hydropower Plants, and oversaw the efforts to prevent water inflow. The Chief Minister also visited the 16-bed hospital and provided the needs for staff appointment as well as medicines and medical equipment.
