Giant pumpkin weighing 2,211 pounds wins first prize at US fair

Pumpkin growers gather at Topsfield Fair for the annual New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Massachusetts, US.Steve Connolly, from Sharon, won the 40th annual Fair. His giant pumpkin topped the scales at 2,211 pounds. This is Connolly's fourth time winning the contest, having previously won in 2000, 2010 and 2016.

The fair said he's now the winningest grower in the contest's history. The Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off was first held at Topsfield Fair in 1984, according to the fair’s website. The New England Giant Pumpkin Growers Association, which hosts the competition, was formed in 1989.
