World Teachers’ Day: Commemorative event held in Nay Pyi Taw

The Ministry of Education observed the 2024 World Teachers’ Day commemorative event in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday.

The ceremony was attended by members of the State Administration Council Dr Hmu Thang and Dr Ba Shwe, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers and high ranking officials as well as the eminent persons, outstanding teachers and students.

Union Minister Dr Nyunt Pe read out the message sent by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Likewise, Secretary General of Myanmar National Commission for UNESCO Dr Kyi Shwin read out the message collectively sent by leaders of five UN agencies, under the theme “Valuing Teacher Voices”. This was followed by brief explanation on the work performances of the eminent persons and outstanding teachers and awarding them with the certificate of honour and honorary cash.

In addition, prizes were awarded to the winners of the World Teachers’ Day commemorative competitions including article, essay and poem reciting.

During the ceremony, Union Minister Dr Nyunt Pe paid respect to twelve retired teachers from Physic Department as well as the Chairman of National Curriculum Committee and Vice Chairman of the Myanmar Academy of Arts and Science.

After the ceremony, the attendees took a tour around the exhibited booths in commemoration of the World Teachers’ Day.
