Planes carrying evacuees from Lebanon arrive in Spain

Russia, France, Spain and Greece on Thursday became the latest countries to launch operations to remove nationals from Lebanon since Israel launched ground raids into its neighbour and Iran fired missiles at Israel.

Planes arriving at a military air base on the outskirts of Madrid on Thursday, carrying people evacuated from Lebanon. According to the Foreign Ministry, 200 Spanish citizens, 40 Lebanese and other citizens from Argentina, Britain, France, Italy, Venezuela and the US were evacuated to Spain. The operation takes place as Israel continues to strike Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.
