






The Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe attended a coordination meeting of The Urea Fertilizer Purchasing and Distribution Steering Committee held at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.
First, the Chairman of the Steering Committee, Union Minister U Hla Moe delivered the opening speech, stating that the meeting was convened with the intention of re-issuing reference prices and ensuring supervision over the selling prices in different regions.
He mentioned that due to the impact of the recent tropical Typhoon, many regions, including the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, as well as other states and regions, experienced flooding, resulting in the destruction and loss of cultivated areas.
Therefore, it is necessary for the relevant region and state government members to find ways to address these needs. He highlighted that fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides would be required for re-cultivation efforts, and that preparations should be made in advance.
It is essential that experts discuss and make decisions regarding the minimum requirements. Since the previously announced reference prices have reached their set period as of today, he requested all participants to jointly discuss and make recommendations on the re-issuance of the prices. He urged everyone to work together to ensure accurate pricing, timely availability of inputs, and maintaining quality, so that the goals can be achieved effectively.
Next, the Steering Committee Secretary clarified the status of confirmation and documentation of the tones of inputs and the representative of Myanmar Fertilizer, Seed and Pesticide Entrepreneurs Association explained about the status of fertilizer purchasing, distributing and utilization. Consequently, members of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Regions and States governments clarified the implementation for the right price and quality and supervising the urea fertilizer purchaing and distributing process followed by the supplemented discussions of Deputy Minister Dr. Tin Htut and U Myint Soe.
After that, the representatives from steering Committee members departments, Central Bank of Myanmar and Myanmar Rice Federation took part in the discussion and the Union Minister gave supplemented instruction and delivered a speech of conclusion.
