Relief and Rehabilitation: National Disaster Management Work Committee meeting

National Disaster Management Work Committee held its coordination meeting at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

Chairman of the Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win attended the meeting and made a speech.

Emphasizing the guidance of the Prime Minister for completion of rehabilitation works by 15th March 2025, the Vice Senior General stressed the needs to carry out the tasks as priorities, with the reopening of schools in October.

For the rehabilitation measures, the Disaster Management Center is working to collect the data of damages in regions and states, drafting plans for phase by phase implementation. He added that plans have been made to resettle the affected community to their original places before the implementation of Census Enumeration on October 1st.

The Vice Senior General called for effective implementation of the rehabilitation tasks, with future plans. Attendees discussed the implementation of relief and rehabilitation measures, provisions of assistance, exchange of information and technology and disaster response measures as well as plans for reopening of schools, repair of transportation facilities, replanting of crops and distribution of relief supplies.
