France's Foreign Minister Barrot reveals at the UN Security Council a joint proposal with the United States for a 21-day ceasefire in Lebanon. The ceasefire would allow time for both parties to hold negotiations.

Shortly after talks at the United Nations between Presidents Biden and Macron, France outlined the proposal at an emergency Security Council session. The situation in Lebanon has become "intolerable" and "is in nobody's interest”, said a joint statement released by the White House.
