The 79th High Level debate of the United Nations

The 79th High Level debate of the United Nations General Assembly opened on 24 September with urgent calls for action, as Secretary-General António Guterres addressed world leaders on the need for change, saying, 2024 is the year that half of humanity goes to the polls and all of humanity will be affected.

In his remarks, Guterres said, the state of the world is unsustainable and it is needed “to make sure the mechanisms of international problem-solving actually solve problems.”
