Death toll rises to 38 in Iran's coal mine blast

The death toll from a gas explosion in a coal mine in Iran's South Khorasan Province has risen to 38, with 14 people remaining missing, according to the official on Monday. 

The explosion occurred on Saturday and was caused by a methane gas explosion in two blocks, B and C, of the privately owned mine operated by the Madanjoo company. There were 69 workers in the blocks at the time of the explosion.
