Relief Measures: Provisions for flood victims in Nyaung Shwe

Vice-Chairman (2) of the National Disaster Management Committee Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win inspected the flood-affected areas in Nyaung Shwe Township on Friday morning. He also inspected the process of health care services for the flood victims provided by emergency medical service teams from Public hospitals and medical specialists from Myanmar private hospitals association at the temporary relief camp, and fulfilled their requirements.

Next, the Union Minister met with flood victims at the Myoma Yangon monastery temporary relief camp in Nyaung Shwe Township. At the meeting, the Union Minister said the government will provide basic food stuffs such as rice, edible oil, salt, beans, and fish paste while living in relief camps.

Also the government will support to those injured and lost their homes by the flood affected depending on their situation. He added that the Ministry will provide cash assistance for rice and consumer goods to be used when returned homes from the relief camps and urged flood victims to cooperate with officials to carry out the rehabilitations efforts in Inle region after the disaster.

Then, the Union Minister and Chief Minister U Aung Aung provided eggs, instant noodles, cash assistance for rice, emergency medical supplies provided by the Ministry of Health for the flood affected people, and provided snacks to the children.

From 19th to 20th September, Union Minister provided over 65.5 million kyat worth of relief supplies for flood-affected people at the temporary relief camps in Kalaw and Nyaung Shwe townships including over 9,000 population from 232 households. It is learnt that provisions will be continued as necessary.
