Sales of Medicines and Related Products: Ministry of Industry held its coordination meeting

A work coordination meeting to discuss the production status of the purchase order of medicines, medical supplies and hospital furniture by the Ministry of Health was held at the Ministry of Industry on Friday.

At the meeting, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than made an opening speech saying that the manufacturing and selling operations of medicines, medical supplies and hospital furniture by No. (3) Heavy Industry and Myanmar Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Industry are underway as per the Ministries’ orders annually and the Ministry has received more purchase orders from the Ministry of Health. He added that the Ministry of Health has increase its purchasing orders every year.

In 2024-2025 financial year, the Ministry of Industry earned over 80 billion kyats for BPI branded medicines, over 9 billion kyats for medical supplies and furniture, in total 90 billion kyats which is more than the previous years.  He said the Ministry will carry out the best to support the public health care services of the Ministry of Health.

After that, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win said the Ministry has been increasing its purchasing orders of high quality products produced by the Ministry of Industry to raise the standards of hospitals and upgrade its furniture.

He also discussed that the Ministry of Health will compile and send the list of medicines and furniture that need to be used in time. Then, officials reported on their production and deliver status of medicines, medical supplies and furniture as their relevant sectors.
