Disaster Response: MSWRR Union Minister visits Kalaw

Vice Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Soe Win visited Kalaw in Shan State on Thursday.

Due to the heavy rainfall, the Kalaw Creek has surged, inundating the nearby areas. The Union Minister oversaw the clearing debris at No.1 Basic Education High School.

On arrival at the temporary relief camp at Myoma Pariyatti Sarthintaik, the Union minister heard reports on relief and rehabilitation measures and pledged to provide assistance to restore normalcy.

They provided provisions and relief items for over 500 affected victims, sheltering at 12 relief camps across Kalaw Township. They then proceeded to Kalaw Creek to assess the water current, and instructed for disaster reduction measures.
