




The National-Level meeting of Social Security Board under the Ministry of Labor was held on 19th September at the ministry's conference room. Chairman of the Social Security Board, Union Minister U Myint Naung attended the meeting and delivered opening remark.
The Union Minister expressed that National Level Social Security Board was formed with the comprise of representatives from the government, employers and employees. The initiative aims to enhance trust among employers and employees regarding social welfare projects and to generate better social outcomes as well as to facilitate quality healthcare services for the insured workers and to provide social welfare benefits as quickly as possible in accordance with the law.
Furthermore, to provide effective and easily accessible healthcare access for insured workers, the Provider Purchaser Split (PPS) system has been implemented. Under this system, agreements have been made with 10 clinics by Capitation payment and 62 by fee for service payment to provide best healthcare services for insured workers. Benefits related to claims have been approved in a timely manner, with a total amount of more than 7.2 billion kyats granted from April to August 2024. Regarding the migrant workers, the Malaysian Social Security Organization has provided compensation of over 730 million Ringgit for 29 workers who have been killed during the workplace accidents and 2 workers who have become permanently disabled.
Moreover, negotiation is underway to sign the MOU with the Social Security Board of Thailand for the remittance of social welfare benefits of Myanmar insured migrant workers in Thailand. The meeting discussed the increase of reimbursement rates for medicines and health treatment costs in accordance with the current times.
