Wards and villages from 56 townships in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Kayah, Kayin and Shan States and Bago, Magway, Mandalay and Ayeyawady Regions were inundated due to the surged of rivers and creeks, triggered by consecutive rainfalls.
The flood damaged various infrastructures including roads and bridges, residential houses, government office buildings, schools and other facilities. It killed 268 people with 88 missing, as of September 18th.
For those casualties, 500,000 kyats will be provided by the Government using the National Disaster Management Fund and 300,000 kyats by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement. Moreover, the respective regions and state governments will provide separate assistance.
