In some villages in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, the PDF terrorists have been committing acts of terrorism, including arresting and killing innocent locals, extorting money, setting fire to the government buildings and planting mines to disrupt the government's administrative mechanism.

The local community strongly opposes the PDF terrorist activities and is actively supporting and cooperating with the Tatmadaw's Counter-Terrorism Operation. In the morning on 16th September, according to reports from responsible local sources, security forces successfully cleared out terrorist insurgents hiding near TharYarGyi Village of Taungtha Township.

During the operation, security forces engaged in a clash with the PDF terrorist insurgent group stationed at the village school on the north side of Tharyagyi Village and the Dharmapala Monastery.

Following the initial encounter, the terrorists retreated northeast in failure. Security forces then continued to clear the area, seizing vehicles, hand-made mortar, 6 large and 5 small improvised mines, 20 detonators, 140 rounds of 5.56 mm and 2 coils of wire.

The security forces continued their operations, and in the afternoon, they exchanged fire  in the southern part of the village with combined force of PDF terrorists from the Taungthar, Natogyi, and Myingyan areas.

The Tatmadaw assaulted  PDF terrorists by using used air support in the evening when they countered with reinforcement. During the conflict, the PDF terrorist groups sustained heavy casualties and retreated chaotically to the south and west of TharYarGyi village. Some members of the Tatmadaw security forces were also injured.

The locals are expressing their happiness and gratitude, fully cooperating with the Tatmadaw and providing the necessary support. It’s reported that the locals appreciate the Tatmadaw's actions against the terrorists based on trustworthy information and are offering their full cooperation. The Tatmadaw continues its counter-terrorism operations in accordance with the provisions of the Counter-Terrorism Law.
