





The World Ozone Day 2024 which falls on 16th September was observed in the State Hall in Mawlamyaing Township of Mon State in the morning and attended by State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein, Chief Justice of the State High Court, State Government Ministers departmental officials, students, civil society organizations and invited guests.
Speaking on the occasion, State Chief Minister said that the event aims to continue the efforts to protect the ozone layer through ongoing collaboration with relevant departments and private organizations. The goal is to ensure that humanity and all living beings on Earth continue to benefit from a healthy ozone layer and to make the world cooler. Since 2008, Myanmar has been holding this international Ozone Day event annually, and this year marks the 17th time. The theme for this year's World Ozone Day is "Montreal Protocol: Advancing Climate Action," focusing on enhancing efforts to combat climate change. This theme emphasizes the need to address and mitigate the climate impacts caused by global warming and encourages collective action to prevent further damage.
Next, the state minister for Natural Resources read the message sent by the UN Secretary General and the Director of State Environmental Conservation Department clarified the work implementations for the preservation of Ozone layer.
Then, State Chief Minister and Chief Justice of State High Court awarded the prizes to the winners at the basic education High school level essay contest held in commemorating the World Ozone Day 2024, watched the awareness video clip on World Ozone Day and the exhibition booths.
