Impact on Transportation: Repair works of damaged rail roads

Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya TunOo on Saturday inspected the repair works of damaged rail sections along Yangon-Mandalay Railroad in Yamethin Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council area and Pyawbwe Township of Mandalay Region.

They took a rail coach from Yamethin Rail Station, and assessed the condition of damages along the way to Innkone Station. They also viewed the collapse of mid-pillar of the Bailey Bridge between Shwe Dar and Pyawbye Stations.

On arrival at Pyawbwe Station, the Union Minister met with the staff and explained the damages at the various facilities due to heavy rain, including Yangon-Mandalay Railroad and Thazi-ShweNyaung-Taunggyi Railroad. Emphasizing its impact on the transportation of passengers and commodity, the Union Minister called for systematic repair works with effective man power and machineries as soon as possible.

They then inspected the damage of rail road between Pyawbwe and Shan Ywa Stations, and instructed to carry out the swift repair works, meeting the set standard.
