Donating Offertories: Provisions for flood-affected monasteries and nunneries

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin, accompanied by other concerned officials attended a donation ceremony at Dhamma Vijita Beikmandawgyi on Friday.

During the event, they donated offertories to monks and nuns residing in the monasteries, nunneries and monastic education schools within the Nay Pyi Taw council area, affected by the current floods.

Offertories were presented to the residing Sayadaws of several monasteries and nunneries in Nay Pyi Taw including KyarKan, Taik, KanTharYar Dhamma YeikThar, PhaYarGyi, HtuGyi, Maha VisutaRaMa, YwaThit, SinPhyuKyun, Maha Dhamma Parami MoeGoke Yeik Thar monasteries as well as Saddhama Nandhi, and PyiGyi Sasana WaiPonLa nunneries.

Following the donations, the Union Minister and party paid homage to the Sayadaw of Mashi KhaNa Monastery where they comforted over 200 flood-affected residents from ThaYe ThaMein and ZeeGone villages in Nay Pyi Taw and distributed essential foodstuff and clothing.

He also met with health officials providing aid to the affected residents and gave words of comfort. The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture donated robes and over 6 million kyat in cash assistance to 31 flood-affected monasteries and 2 nunneries in Pobbathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
