Relief and Rescue Measures: Efforts to mitigate flash floods across regions and states

Due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi and the storm in the Bay of Bengal, consecutive rainfall has caused the surge of rivers and creeks, inundating some wards, villages and Townships across the country recently.

The floods has caused damages to roads and bridges, halting the transportation, shortage of electricity, and temporary closure of schools. Relief and rescue measures are in place, while evacuating the affected victims to the safer places.

The flood affected areas include Nay Pyi Taw Council area, Minbu (Saku) Township, some townships in Shan State (South) and Bago Region and Pyawbwe Township of Mandalay Region. Public are advised to take precaution measures on the strong wind, flash floods and landslide.
