


A ceremony on International Literacy Day 2024 was held at Public Sport ground in Myitkyina of Kachin State on Sunday under the theme of “Promoting multilingual education: Literacy for mutual understanding and peace”.
Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan said literacy play a crucial role in expanding the learning environ and it is needed to implement the non-formal education and lifelong learning education programs in least developed areas. He urged all to participate in eliminating illiterate since each and every individual can differentiate good or bad only by increasing knowledge. Then Reactor of Myitkyina University read out the message sent by the UNESCO Director-General and video clip on Literacy activities was screened.
Next, the Chief Minister and officials presented prizes and cash of honor to the winners who won in Basic Education High School and Middle School level essay, arts, poster and poem competitions commemorating the International Literacy Day. Later, Chief Minister and officials viewed around the commemorative booths.
