Rural Development: Cooperative and development projects

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe on Friday visited Gwaypin Model Village in Tatkone Township and met with the cooperative member farmers, locals and departmental staff.

After hearing reports on agriculture works, the Union Minister stressed to make cooperative efforts for successful implementation of the tasks, pledging to provide agricultural inputs. He then inspected the thriving cotton plantations of a member farmer. On arrival at Shwe Udaung Village, the Union Minister attended a ceremony to provide fund for establishing Smart Village.

The Ministry has established the smart villages across regions and states for socio-economic development, income generation and creating job opportunities for rural people starting 2022-2023 fiscal year. A total of 128 smart villages have been established so far in 104 townships. The Union Minister stressed for long term durability of the development projects with collective efforts.

During the ceremony, a total of 120 million kyat fund were provided for establishing smart village, emerald green project and Rural Business Fund. The Union Minister later inspected concrete paving of Shwe Udaung-Ywaysu road, connecting Pobbathiri Township, and small scale busniesses in Aye Myit Thaya Model Village.
