Central Census Commission Meeting: Implementations for 2024 Population and Housing Census

The Central Census Commission held a work coordination meeting on 2024 Population and Housing Census on Friday.

Patron of the Commission, Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister, Vice Senior-General Soe Win attended the meeting and made a speech, saying that the census enumeration tasks have been initiated since 1st October 2021 with phase by phase processes.

Currently, training courses are being conducted at different levels under the supervision of the region and state Census Supervisory Committees. He added that achieving accurate data during the field enumeration, the major task of the whole process, totally depends on the census examiners and census takers with the close supervision by the respective census committees, along with the cooperation of public.

Highlighting the SAC Chairman’ guidance in conducting census enumeration as much as possible between October 1st and 15th, with extension as necessary for security measures to ensure data accuracy, the Vice Senior General stressed to extend the period in some places as necessary till December 2024 before releasing the initial report. He called for collaborative efforts of all concerned persons for setting historical milestone since the process has been conducted on a self-reliance basis without international assistance. 

The meeting discussed the implementations on the previous meetings’ minutes, preparation measures, distribution of supported items, trial enumeration process, appointment of census examiners and census takers, conducting training courses, public awareness tasks and conditions of census taking areas as well as collaboration measures among the departments for the success of the process.
