Poland unveils new defense deals worth $520 million

Poland on Tuesday announced new military deals worth several hundred million dollars, the latest in the NATO member's drive to beef up its defense.

At an international military trade fair in the southern city of Kielce which features hundreds of exhibitors along with experts from countries including Australia, UK and the United States, Poland Defense Minister said the Polish government will sign contracts for nearly $520 million.

He said the deal would involve surveillance systems for around airports, without providing further details. He added that Poland had inked three other contracts on Tuesday pertaining to military logistics and communications.
