Australian researchers have made a breakthrough which could transform bone marrow transplants. Scientists at Melbourne’s Murdoch Children’s Research Institute have found a way to grow blood stem cells in the lab.

It’s a discovery which could see more personalized treatment for people with leukemia and other bone marrow disorders. One of the researchers said the technology paves the way for lab-grown cells to be used in blood stem cells and bone marrow transplants.
