Honduran new Defence Minister speaks after her appointment

Honduran President Xiomara Castro appointed new Defence Minister Rixi Moncada Godoy after José Manuel Zelaya resigned.

Zelaya resigned shortly after his father, Congressman Carlos Zelaya, brother-in-law of President Xiomara Castro, said he will submit to an investigation into alleged links to drug trafficking.

Honduran Defence Minister Rixi Moncada spoke after her recent appointment by President Xiomara Castro. President Castro ended this week an extradition treaty with the United States that has been used to imprison drug traffickers.
