School Libraries Development: Promoting Reading Habits Festival in Kayah State

School Libraries Development and Promoting Reading Habits Festival was held at No.5 Basic Education High School in Kayah State on Thursday with the attendance of Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the festivals have been held across the country with the aims to acquire knowledge for the students through nurturing reading habits. He added that development of school libraries is essential for the students to pursue their knowledge by reading books.

The teachers are urged to nature their students to be familiar with the school libraries and to participate increating school libraries in line with the 5 standards.During the ceremony, books and furniture were donated for School Library. It was followed by awarding prizes to the winning students in essay, painting (cartoon, poster), story-telling and poetry speaking competitions. After the ceremony, the Chief Minister and party viewed around the displayed books, bulletin board and quiz competitions.
