Spreading disinformation: Subversive Media Khit Thit circulated disinformation

The Facebook Page with the user name of Kht thit is spreading subversive and fake news for the public misconception on 19th August describing that the 40 prisoners transferred to Thayawady Central Prison sustained injuries in head and body due to the beating of prison staff, suffered solitary confinement and fetters of iron chains.

In scrutinizing the incidence, it appears that there are no political prisoners in Thayawady Central Prison but only the criminal prisoners, there are searches of 300 transferred prisoners from Yangon Insein Central Prison to Thayawady Central Prison to prevent smuggling of restricted items into the prison and there is no beating the transferred prisoners without reason and no report of prisoners sustained injuries in head and body in the prison hospital.

Moreover, no one is punished of solitary confinement and only some who need the separation and monitoring are isolated, there are instructions of prison rules and disciplines but no torturing and beating, if the prison staff beats or tortures the prisoners, they are taken legal action. The prison officers and staffs administered the prisoners in line with the law. So, the description of Facebook Page called Khit Thit is only the spreading distorted news for the public misconception, it’s reported.
