Major incident declared after tower block fire

A major incident has been declared by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) after a fire broke out at a block of flats in Dagenham in East London.

Forty fire engines and more than two-hundred firefighters have been at the scene since the fire broke out in the early hours of Monday morning. Two people have been taken to hospital and more than 100 residents evacuated. The whole of the building has been affected by the fire, a LFB official said. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
