China’s National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters activated a Level-IV emergency response on Sunday due to severe flooding affecting most parts of Beijing, all of Tianjin, central southern Hebei, and central northern Shanxi.

The decision followed forecasts from the country’s meteorological authorities predicting heavy to torrential rain in these regions. Additionally, the Central Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow alert for heavy rain at 6 p.m. Beijing Time on the same day.
