Inspection Tour: Irrigation facilities in Nay Pyi Taw inspected

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw along with the departmental officials inspected Nga Laik Dam in Ottarathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on August 22nd.

The Deputy Minister heard reports on waterinflow, storage of water and maintenance processes of dam for long-term durability as well as cultivation of monsoon paddy,winter crops, summer paddy and crops plantation. Upon the reports, the Deputy Minister stressed for safety measures of the dam, with timely checking on the durability of the dam. He added that it is needed to implement for distribution of irrigated water in summer, cultivating monsoon paddy to meet targeted acres as well as cultivation of winter crops, summer paddy and other crops with full capacity for high yielding.

After inspecting durability and storage of water, the Deputy Minister called for collaborative efforts of concerned officials and locals for utilizing of water effectively without wasting. In the evening, the Deputy Minister and party visited PaungLaung Dam in Zeyathiri Township and inspected durability of the dam and spillway.

They also observed the test operation of Hydraulic Elevator Dam (HED) installed at spillway for more generation of 8 million electric units annually and gave necessary instruction.
