






Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi, along with concerned officials visited the InnPyin Nursery Garden in Kalaw Township, Shan State (South) on Saturday morning. During the visit, the Union Minister heard reports on the operations of forest sector within the State and future plans.
Following the report, the Union Minister called for exerted efforts to designate Kalaw as a "Pine City," preserve the Inle Lake watershed area, expand forest plantations, preserve biodiversity, safeguard Hti Thein Lake and related dams vital for Taunggyi City’s water supply, and address illegal logging.
The Union Minister and party then viewed the nursery garden where 48,000 seedlings of eight species were cultivated. In the afternoon, the Union Minister and party visited Aung Pan Forest Reserve and ThiKhaungTaung Protected Forest to assess the thriving condition of 22 acres of pine plantations and survival of planted pines. Upon arrival at Heho Nursery Garden, they inspected the thriving pine plantations along Heho-BawSeng Road and instructed to pay special emphasis on continued survival and long-term sustainability of these pines.
Next, the Union Minister and party paid a visit to TaungLayLone Nursery Garden in Taunggyi Township, where they inspected the cultivation of 24,000 saplings for Inle Lake Watershed Conservation and community planting. They also reviewed over 50,000 saplings at Aye Thar Yar (Green Zone) Nursery Garden for Hti Thein Lake’s greenery preservation and provided necessary instructions.
