Libya to 'secure' institutions and infrastructure in Tripoli

An agreement between armed groups and security organisations has been reached in Tripoli to defuse the serious tensions that have gripped the Libyan capital for several weeks, Libyan Interior Minister Imad Trabelsi has announced.

Plagued by chaos since the fall and death of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya is governed by two rival executives: Abdelhamid Dbeibah's UN-recognized GNU in the west, and the other in the east, backed by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.
