






2024 Regions and States U-18 Track and Field Tournament commenced at Wunna Theikdhi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.
The opening ceremony was attended by members of the State Administration Council Daw Dwe Bu, Porel Aung Thein, Dr Hmu Thang, Dr Ba Shwe, Khun San Lwin, U Shwe Kyein and U Yan Kyaw as well as the Union Ministers, the Deputy Ministers, departmental personnel, officials from Myanmar Track and Field Federation, invited guests and athletes.
Chairman of the Myanmar Olympics Committee Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan made a speech, urging all to try their best to become a selected player who could bring prestige to the nation. During the event, former selected Track and Field player Daw Jennifer Tin Lay donated 14 international winning medals to be displayed at the Myanmar Sports Activities Booth of the Ministry.
This was followed by the Track and Field events, with setting new record in 10,000 meter men Walk and women Discus Throw. The competitions will continue on the 24th with Women 5,000 meter Walk, Men/ Women Hammer Throw, Long Jump, 800, 200 and 400 meter Hurdles, among others.
452 athletes from 15 each of men and women teams from regions and staes are participating in the 2024 Regions and States U-18 Track and Field Tournament which is set to hold from August 23rd to 26th.
