Library Development: Reading Habit Promotion Festival in Chaungsone

The Library Development and Reading Habit Promotion Festival was held at Basic Education High School (Chaungsone) in Mawlamyaing Township on Friday to boost the library sector in Mawlamyaing District and encourage students to embrace reading.

First, Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein and party toured a range of activities, including classroom debates, impromptu talks, storytelling and poem recitation contests. The event also featured entertainment and fun activities such as painting, a proverb enactment competition and the Hula Hoop game.

They then toured the photo booth displayed, the school library and reading room. Following this, the Library Development and Reading Promotion Festival continued at ThiriYadana Hall. During the event, the Chief Minister emphasized the festival's goals such as the long-term development of libraries, fostering reading habits, and promoting library culture.

The event was followed by the provision of 2 million kyat cash assistance, nutritious snack and publications. The Chief Minister and party later observed students reading books and publications sold by the Information and Public Relations Department.
