Convenient Transportation Access: New underpass is under construction in Dagon Township

A new underpass is under construction in Dagon Township, connecting the Western Archway of Shwedagon Pagoda and People’s Square on U Wizara Road.

This new facility aims to provide convenient and safe transportation access for commuters. On August 20th, Chief Minister U Soe Thein visited the construction site and instructed for timely completion of the project, meeting the set standard.

Currently, over 79% of the pre-engineering tasks have been completed, along with over 63% completion in power supply, water supply, ventilation, and automation tasks.

The new facility will be a 23-foot-wide underpass with the capacity to accommodate 14,000 commuters per hour. It will be equipped with four elevators and two lifts and is expected to be completed within the 14-month project period.
