School Libraries Development: Efforts for promoting reading habit of students

Under the management of Thaninthayi Region Government, prize awarding ceremony for School Libraries Development and Promoting Reading Habit Festival took place at PyinnyarBeikMhan Hall of No.3 Basic Education High School in Dawei Township on Friday. 

The festival was jointly organized by the Department of Information and Public Relation and the Department of Basic Education. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister U MyatKo said that promoting reading habit is needed to implement by collaboration with private communities. He added that the festival was held with the aims to nurture reading habit of the students who will shoulder country’s duties in the future and for the development of socio-economic life.

The Chief Minister also said that teachers have a responsibility to nurture the good habits of the students visiting the libraries and reading habits during their spare time. Then, the honourable gifts and prizes were awarded to the concerned officials for their contribution to the festival and students who won in the commemorative competitions including essay, debate, impromptu and sport competitions.

Well-wishers also donated cash and books for school library. The Regional government also made cash donation worth of 2.5 million kyat and concerned officials provided nutritious food to the students.
