Library Development: MOI Union Minister visits Pathein University

Chairman of the Myanmar Libraries Development Cooperation Committee, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn and Chief Minister of Ayeyawaddy Region U Tin Maung Win visited the Pathein University’s Library on Thursday afternoon.

They met with teachers and students, explaining the efforts for libraries’ development across the country. The Union Minister stressed the need to provide books and periodicals at the library as per the students’ interest. He called for collaboration of all concerned persons for promoting the reading habits of young people.

The Chief Minister also briefed on the reading habit development progress for the students. The Union Minister and the Chief Minister later donated public science tretises and publications for Pathein University’s Library. Next, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister attended the Respect Paying Ceremony of Geography and Environmental Studies Major Students, Fresher Welcome and Farewell and Awarding Ceremony at the Convocation Hall of the University.

During the events, 2 sets of DTH satellites and 15 sets of DVB-T2 Set Top Box as well as 1 million kyat cash assistance were provided for the university. At the meeting hall of the university, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister heard reports on salient points of the university by the Rector.

Faculty members also explained the conditions of the research paper for the development of MSMEs. The Chief Minister suggested to research about the agriculture product and agriculture marketing for economic development of Ayeyawaddy Region. The Union Minister also called for making contribution in implementing the future Road Map and objectives laid down by the Government.
