







The Union Minister for Health Prof: Dr. Thet Khaing Win attended the opening ceremony of group level football competition of Zone (1) Inter-Universities of Medicine and Medical related Universities held at Thuwunna Football ground in Thingangyun Township of Yangon in the morning on 20th August.
At the ceremony, Union Minister gave an opening remark saying the football competition of Zone (1) Inter-Universities of Medicine and Medical related Universities under the Ministry of Health is organized to be able to compete in 5th National Sports Festival to be held during December, 2024 and Inter-Ministerial Universities Football competition to be held in Nay Pyi Taw during September, 2024. Moreover, the competition will facilitate the one of social objectives “to enhance health and sports sectors inclusive of all the people to enhance the longevity and health of the entire nation” set by the State Administration Council.
Next, the Patron of Organizing Committee for football competition of Zone (1) Inter-Universities of Medicine and Medical related Universities Union Minister for Health kicked off the football competition and accepted the cash donation of 6 million Kyats donated by Yangon Region Chief Minister and 5 million Kyats and 50 footballs by Myanmar Football Federation.
Then, the Union Minister and Yangon Region Chief Minister greeted the players, the Union Minister and Chief Minister awarded the cash of honor to the Drum and Bugle and Pom Pom dance groups and groups of entertainments respectively and enjoyed the football match.
As the first group match of Zone (1), University of Medicine (1) Yangon and University of Pharmacy (Yangon) competed and University of Medicine (1) Yangon beat the University of Pharmacy (Yangon) with 5-1.The competition of Zone (1) will be held in Yangon from 20th to 25th August and competition of Zone (2) in Nay Pyi Taw from 23rd to 25th August, it’s learnt.
