A group of Chinese marine ecological researchers have been contributing their own strength to biodiversity conservation for over a decade, through diving into the seabed and pushing forward coral reef restoration work.

Coral is one of the most difficult marine organisms to reproduce, but it builds the most important marine ecosystem, as 25 percent of marine life depends on coral reefs.Restoring coral reefs in the sea is not only a technical job, but also very risky.

In 2007, the Guangdong Coral Census was officially launched, with less than 10 people forming the first working group. Now, there are 45 census teams and more than 50,000 volunteers from all walks of life.
